When I first started this program as a Trooper I thought I would be the one helping these kids have a better Christmas. After taking the children shopping and watching them buy items like flowers for their mother's grave and pajamas for other foster kids they live with it was then that made me understand the true meaning of Christmas.

Some of the most touching stories I ever saw as a reporter at WTAE came from years one and two of the Shop With a Cop program. Dozens of children whose lives were marred by tragedy found a ray of hope. That's exactly why my new company, Excela Health, was one of the first in line to sponsor year three, and we will continue to do so, because we want to be part of the healing process for these children.

I love to see the kids smiling as they shop. They learn that police officers aren't only around when bad things happen.
